ASBURY PARK — A 26-year-old city man pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty after his dog died shortly after he took it to a veterinarian.

Leondray Bell, of Lake Avenue, entered the plea in Municipal Court on Monday.

On Nov. 3, Bell brought 1-year-old female pit bull "Princess" into the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital 'emaciated, dehydrated and suffering from hypoglycemia," according to Victor 'Buddy' Amato, chief of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The dog died of cardiac arrest shortly after it arrived at the hospital.

"He failed to bring the dog to the veterinarian in a timely manner," Amato added.

Bell was fined $375, plus $33 in court costs.

It has now become automatic for police officers to shoot dogs. When are they going to be trained not to? Do we have to wait until a lost bullet kills a human as well?

I hope this bitch gets the full sentencing of four years, no suspended sentence, and a lifelong ban on ever owning another animal.
